YEAR 12 STEP UP TO SWANSEA UNIVERSITY

What is Step Up to Swansea University?
The Step Up to Swansea University programme is a series of day events and a short residential at Swansea University aimed at Year 12 students completing the first year of a level 3 qualification in school or college in South West Wales (Neath Port Talbot, Swansea, Pembrokeshire, Carmarthenshire)  to experience life at university. Successful completion of the programme means that students are able to claim a tariff point reduction if applying for undergraduate courses at Swansea University.

Who can attend?
Individual students must apply for a place on the Step Up To Swansea University Programme. It is aimed at Year 12 and first year level 3 students from schools and colleges in South West Wales who have the ability to succeed but, because of family, personal or other circumstances are experiencing barriers which may prevent their progression to higher education (see application pack for further details).

Successful students will then be invited to a Welcome Event at Swansea University. Students are then able to attend a series of day events for example subject taster days, a well being day, and study skill days.  These events run from March – June of Year 12 and they culminate in a residential experience held in July.  Optional activities/events will be offered to students when they are in Year 13 for example mock interviews.
