Broaden your knowledge, skills and network with our societies
MedSoc is the Swansea University Medical School Society. We are a student run society that works alongside the medical school staff, sports teams and societies to organise medical student events, revision sessions, socials and involvement in Open Days. Each year a new committee is elected to organise Graduate Entry Medicine (GEM) Visit Day for interview holders, planning socials (such as the Christmas social and Halloween social).
The Medical Life Science Society (MedLiSoc) includes Biochemistry, Medical Biochemistry, Genetics, Medical Genetics, Applied Medical Sciences, and Biochemistry and Genetics degrees.
Our aim isto integrate students from all year groups of study by providing academic discussions, plenty of social events and guest speakers to allow everyone to get involved as well as organising multiple socials.
Swansea University Medical School's General Practice Society (GPSoc) aims to encourage more medical students to consider a career in General Practice, this student led society arranges a variety of talks and events which give students insight into life working as a GP. As a society GPSoc are lucky to get fantastic support from the Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP), GPs from across Wales and Swansea University Medical School Staff.
We are a partnership between the School of Medicine in The Gambia and Swansea University Medical School. This link between the medical schools was established in 2007 with support from The Tropical Health and Education Trust (THET). The link allows for collaboration of priority areas for the mutual benefit of students and teaching clinicians associated with both international centres.
From bake sales to pub quizzes to sponsored outdoor challenges to our famous "Auction of Promises," our events raise approximately £500 each year in order to allow four students from the Gambia to travel to Gambia in the academic spring term.
