Associate Research Fellow in Medical Education, University of Nottingham
Janet worked in the Medical Education Unit at Nottingham from 2003-2013, completing various research projects which focussed mainly on 'struggling' medical students. Her work included investigations into the occurrence and impact of mental health difficulties in these students, and one study, conducted with the support of the GMC, suggested that struggling students may be at increased risk of significant difficulties in their subsequent professional life. She has published a number of papers in the BMJ and in UK medical education journals. Although now retired, she maintains an active interest in the field, participating in further research at Leicester and also providing external peer reviews for research papers.
