What did you do prior to studying at Swansea University?

Working for Swansea Tribology, oil analysis services.

Can you tell us about your course?

The course gives insight to the fundamentals and applications of mass spectrometry in various fields of science. It also teaches methods of sample preparation and extraction using various techniques of liquid chromatography (LC) and experimental design.

What part of the course did you enjoy the most?

My favourite part so far has been learning about the variety of ionisation techniques and how they can be used to overcome problems in analysing very different compounds.

What are your plans/hopes for the future?

I hope to either continue study by doing a PhD or pursue a career in analytical sciences.

How will your studies help you pursue your chosen profession?

I think in this current climate having a postgraduate qualification will lead to you being more employable.

Would you recommend Swansea University to other students?

I definately would recommend swansea uni's mass spectrometry deptartment if you have an interest in mass spectrometry and LC as it is the only course like it in the country and I believe it is tailored for working in industry.

What did you do prior to studying at Swansea University?

Studied at UWIC (sport biomedicine), Cardiff (chemistry) and was employed by the NHSB+T.

Can you tell us about your course?

Excellent course, has opened a lot of opportunities to me.  Gives good basic and detailed information which is industry specific and can be easily applied to practical GC/LC-MS.

What part of the course did you enjoy the most?

All of it.

What are your plans/hopes for the future?

Develop my education to work in the pharmaceutical industry.

How will your studies help you pursue your chosen profession?

It gives me the ideal background needed for the application in employment, as well as the general understanding of the topic to allow discussion with prospective employers etc.

Would you recommend swansea university to other students?

Yep, 100%... Brill staff, brill uni and brill course.
