Collaborate 2015 1

COLLABORATE 2015 took place earlier this week at the Taliesin Theatre on the Swansea University Singleton campus. The day was hosted by the Swansea University Medical School, the Academic Health Science Centre, Abertawe Bro Morgannwg and Hywel Dda University Health Boards.

Around 300 representatives from across the region and beyond attended the conference, with the aim of celebrating and promoting collaborative projects and partnerships across industry, academia, Government, health boards and other organisations.

Professor Marc Clement, Executive Chair of the Institute of Life Science (ILS) at Swansea University Medical School said: “This year’s COLLABORATE 2015 conference has been a huge success and we are delighted with the number of delegates who have attended.

The day has been dedicated to celebrating and promoting collaborative projects and partnerships across industry, academia, Government, health boards and other organisations.

We have received very positive feedback on the project that was presented to the audience during this year’s event:  A Regional Collaboration for Health (ARCH). ARCH is a new way of thinking for South West Wales and drives the way we will do business across the region.”

Kathryn Davies, Executive Director of Primary Care & Community at Hywel Dda Health Board, added: “ARCH is the vehicle by which we will deliver the transformational change required to meet the current and future health and social care needs of our population.”

The event included talks by Kathryn Davies and other high profile speakers including Professor Mansel Aylward, of Public Health Wales and the Bevan Commission, and Professor Ifan Evans of the Welsh Government, and a series of thematic workshops and tours of ILS facilities.

The team at ILS hope to build on this year’s event and are already planning towards a 2016 conference.
