The Swansea University Singleton Park Campus has already seen significant improvements and refurbishment of its 47 acre estate and over the next few years will realise further transformation and refurbishment

As part of its forward looking plans the University will be transforming the ground floor of the Taliesin Theatre block to develop an exciting innovative flexible learning and engagement zone.

The redesigned area will enhance the Student Experience through the provision of a new innovative learning zone, an engagement space and a mix of flexibility with some closable-open spaces.

There will also be space for the enhancement of the College of Arts and Humanities activities so they can hold open and  visit days, events etc, an active zone, provision for CoAH societies to meet and students to engage as well as digital arts and humanities display/exhibitions.

In addition to the ground floor redevelopment the University will support a leading Regional Arts Centre, consisting of a theatre, bar, display, box office, exhibition area; the Egypt Centre with its public engagement/schools activities and collections and display and breakout spaces.

The existing gallery will close but will be replaced with a cross campus arts and culture programme. While the work is underway, there will be a very small amount of disruption for visitors to the Taliesin, but the theatre programme will continue as normal.

Announcing these exciting and progressive plans Pro- Vice- Chancellor  Professor Martin Stringer said:

˝ With Swansea University ranked the top University in Wales and chosen by the Times/Sunday Times as ʼThe Welsh University of the Year 2017 ′ and an excellent REF rating we have achieved our ambition to be a top 30 research University.

˝ In keeping with other leading Universities we have ambitious expansion plans as we move towards our centenary in 2020.

˝ This redevelopment will enable us to continue our drive to provide facilities fit for the 21st century by providing spaces for group work, social areas, events/speakers space, meeting rooms, digital exhibitions and notice boards and displays of student work whilst maintaining our support for the Arts Centre and the Egypt Centre .

˝ Enhancing student experience, providing much needed learning and social space and providing open engagement opportunities enable us to continue to extend our global reach and realise our domestic and international ambitions.“
