University welcomes United Arab Emirates Embassy Ambassador

Swansea University today (Wednesday, January 29) welcomed a visit by a delegation from the United Arab Emirates Embassy in London, including the Ambassador, His Excellency Mr Abdulrahman Ghanem Almutaiwee.

UAE Ambassador visit The delegation, which also included His Highness Shaikh Mohammed Bin Maktoum Bin Rashed Al Maktoum, the First Secretary and Head of the Economic Department, and Miss Sara al Mahri, the Head of the Education Department, was met and welcomed to the campus by Swansea University’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor Richard B Davies.

The visit was organised by the Welsh Government’s European and External Affairs Division (EEAD), and the delegation received presentations from Professor Iwan Davies, Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Internationalisation and External Affairs on the University’s Bay Campus development and industry partnerships; Michael Rees, Head of Development and Alumni Relations; the College of Engineering’s Professor Nidal Hilal, Director of CWATER (Centre for Water Advanced Technologies and Environmental Research) and former Acting Provost of the Masdar Institute of Science and Technology; and Emma Frearson Emmanuel, Head of the International Development Office. 

The delegation also toured the College of Engineering and met some of the United Arab Emirates students studying at Swansea.
