Web development training on offer to Welsh SMEs
A chance to get hands on with leading web and graphic design tools is being offered to Welsh software developers and IT professionals in November. Software Alliance Wales is offering a series of 50% subsidised courses in Cardiff, via e-Academy Ltd., to enable developers to take their skills a step further with Adobe Dreamweaver, Adobe Flash and Adobe Illustrator.
Kelly Norris, Marketing Manager of e-Academy, said, “By undertaking these courses, candidates will be able to bring their businesses to the cutting-edge of the industry. An understanding of the Adobe Creative Suite, which these courses provide, will allow your staff to be more efficient and therefore allow your business to be more competitive.”
The courses are:
• ‘Introduction to Adobe Dreamweaver’ runs from 7-8 November, and is a full two day instructor led course where attendees will design, build and upload a website using Dreamweaver®. Course participants will use the advanced features of Adobe® Dreamweaver® CS5 to develop professional-looking websites.
• ‘Introduction to Adobe Flash’ runs from 14-15 November, and is the ideal course for delegates who want to create web page components that contain text, graphics, and animation, to display correctly in a wide range of browsers and on most computing platforms. Course participants will create Flash-based movies that contain graphics, text, and animations.
• ‘Introduction to Adobe Illustrator’ runs from 21-22 November, and is intended for designers, publishers, pre-press professionals, marketing communications professionals, or people switching to a design job or taking on design responsibilities and who need to create illustrations, logos, advertisements, or other graphic documents. Course participants will create complex illustrations, manage colour across a range of devices, work with graphs and variables, control how illustrations appear on print and the web, and preview them on mobile devices.
These courses are 50% subsidised for employees of SME businesses or currently trading freelancers who either work or live in the Convergence area of Wales. The total cost to pay per course is £137.50 per delegate.

The Software Alliance Wales programme, which is led by Swansea University in collaboration with the University of Glamorgan, Bangor University, Aberystwyth University and University of Wales, Trinity Saint David, comprises four specific strands identified to support businesses in Wales.
This course is offered as part of the CPD Training of ICT Professionals strand, and is made available exclusively to the Convergence areas of Wales through the programme. Course participants can also benefit from free membership of BCS – The Chartered Institute of IT at Associate or Member level.
