    Swansea student strikes silver

    A Swansea University student has claimed a silver medal for Wales in the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi.


    Swimmer Jazmin (Jazz) Carlin, from Sketty, Swansea, came second in the 200m freestyle event, held at the DR SP Mukherjee Aquatics Complex.

    She is the first Welsh woman to claim a Commonwealth Games medal since Pat Beavan in 1974, and the first to claim a freestyle medal since Valerie Davies in 1930.

    Jazz, who trains at the Wales National Pool Swansea, recently enrolled at the University to study for a BSc in Accounting and Finance in the School of Business and Economics.
