School of Business and Economics celebrate graduation
A special group of international students have graduated from Swansea University’s School of Business and Economics.
The students, who graduated today Tuesday 19 July, were part of the first intake of students that arrived at International College Wales Swansea (ICWS) in 2008. The ICW provides preparation courses for international students that form a pathway onto a Swansea University degree programme.
These students join the large number of UK, European and International students that study within the School making it a truly international environment.
More than 80 former ICW students will graduate this year across a range of disciplines within the School at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
Chui Shan Leung from China, has been named as recipient of the first ICWS award for outstanding academic performance by a former ICWS student. Ms Leung achieved a 1st Class degree in BSc Accounting and Finance and was one of several former ICWS students who achieved at this level.
Dr Melanie Jones from the School of Business and Economics says “Ms Leung said that the personal nature of academic and pastoral support at ICWS helped her adapt quickly to studying in Swansea. She plans to build on her achievement within the School of Business and Economics by going on to postgraduate study at the University of Warwick.
“Our link with ICWS has enabled students to come from across the world to study within the School. Next year we will have over 250 former ICWS students studying within the School as we continue to develop this link as part of the University’s internationalisation programme.
“Staff within the School work extremely hard to help our students achieve in their time here with us, and graduation is a time for us to celebrate their success’.
