Swansea Appointed to New NHS Connecting for Health Framework Contract

The School of Medicine at Swansea University has been appointed to a new Framework Contract by NHS Connecting for Health and included on a list of preferred suppliers of clinical information and consultancy services to the NHS in England. In doing so it becomes the only Medical School to be included in the list of 61 suppliers for the Additional Supply Capability and Capacity (ASCC) Lot 2 contract award, which includes multinational companies and corporate giants.

The School of Medicine was selected to potentially supply the NHS in England nationally with Clinical Information Technology in the fields of Health Care Professional Services and Endoscopy Services, and also in Consultancy Services.

It won the bids on the strength of GeneCISR (Generic Clinical Information System), an electronic patient record system that meets the information needs of professionals and patients, supports developments in the delivery of high quality services and enables clinical research.

Celebrating the success, Professor John Williams, Professor of Health Services Research at the School of Medicine, said, "This is a remarkable achievement. The assessment process was very rigorous. Success speaks volumes of the quality of our information systems and services, which are truly best of breed. As the only medical school represented in the list of preferred suppliers, we are pleased to be included on the ASCC Lot 2 Framework Contract.  We believe the ASCC framework contracts will now enable us to continue to develop further our vision for patient focused records, based on strong collaboration with professionals and patients."
