“Cerdded Adre / The Long Walk Home”
By
Rowan O’Neill
Performance writer and artist
Date: Wednesday, 31 October
Time: 4pm
Venue: Room 216, Keir Hardie Building, Swansea University
The Long Walk Home is a performance lecture delivered on route by the artist as she walks from London to her home in Felinwynt, West Wales. The lecture investigates notions of British and Welsh identity, rurality, culture and performance.
Rowan O'Neill's work is informed by her academic background in theology and religious studies and the contrast between British urban society and her Welsh agricultural upbringing.
Her chief interest is in the role of performance as a channel for transfigurative experience. The use of irony, traditional song and commonplace objects and materials are key aspects of the work's presentation.
