A conference to mark the retirement of Professor Rhys W Williams
Date: 31 August – 2 September 2008
Venue: Gregynog Hall, Newtown, Powys
An international conference, entitled 'Aesthetics and Politics in Modern German Culture' and organised by Dr Brigid Haines of Swansea's Modern Languages Department, is to be held at Gregynog Hall, Newtown, Powys, from 31 August to 2 September 2008, to mark the retirement of Professor Rhys W Williams, Pro-Vice- Chancellor and Professor of German.
A team of top scholars, many of them former students of Professor Williams, will deliver papers which reflect the breadth of Professor Williams's research interests, on topics ranging from Expressionism to contemporary German literature and film. The papers will feed directly into a Festschrift to be published by Lang and edited by Dr Haines, Professor Steve Parker, and Professor Colin Riordan.
