The Library and Information Centre is the main university library and is located at the eastern end of the Singleton Campus. The entrance (from the Mall, opposite Student Services) is on Level 3.

The LIC caters for differing learning styles:
A group study area can be found on the right hand side of the Study Hall on Level 3 West.
Silent study areas can be found on Levels 1 and 2 West; Levels 2, 3 and 4 East (the Law Library).
A quiet PC area can be found on Level 4 West.
Silent PC areas can be found in PC rooms 2 and 3. Please note that these rooms can only be used when they are not being used for teaching - check the table on the door.
A Postgraduate PC Area can be found at the back of the Study Hall on Level 3 West. If you are a postgraduate, you can use this area.

There are also individual study desks among the book stacks in all areas of the Library and Information Centre. Please maintain a quiet study atmosphere throughout the LIC. Mobile phones may only be used in silent mode; considerate conversations are allowed on Levels 3 & 4 of the West Wing.
Open Access computing facilities in the LIC include:

All student PCs offer the full range of Open Access software, including: word processing, databases & spreadsheets, web browsers, networked databases and the Library catalogue, iFind Discover.
Each Open Access area also has a laser printer, operated by a student card as for photocopying.
A colour laser printer is also available, based in the Study Hall on Level 3. USB Flash Drives, CD-Rs and CD-RWs can be purchased at the Issue Desk.
There are four scanners on Level 4 of the Study Hall.
PC Rooms 2 and 3 are usually booked for teaching from 9am - 6pm during term-time, however, these PC Rooms are available for students to use PCs when not booked. Timetables indicating bookings are located on the doors of these rooms and at the Information Desk.

There are ten public access photocopiers in the LIC. Eight are situated on Level 2 West (close to the toilets); one is in the link area between Level 2 West and Level 2 East; one is in the Law Library on Level 4 East. All are card-operated. See photocopying for more information about prices, copycards and copying onto OHP transparencies
If material is not available in SU libraries, we can obtain it for you on Inter-Library Loan. Request forms may be obtained from and returned to the Inter-Library Loans office in the LIC (Level 2 West) or the LIC Information Desk (Level 3 West) when the office is closed. Forms are also available on the internet. Books obtained on Inter-Library Loan should likewise be collected from and returned to this office, or the LIC Issue Desk (Level 3 West). Distance and Lifelong Learners At Swansea (DALLAS)
Special services for these students are handled through a central enquiry point in the Library and Information Centre. Tel. 01792 295023, e-mail part.time@swansea.ac.uk. The DALLAS page describes these services in full.
Past exam papers are no longer kept in the library. Some departments provide electronic access to their papers via departmental web pages - see the page, or ask your department about this.
If you lose your library card, report the loss immediately at any ISS issue desk, so that we can prevent any unauthorised use of your card. We will also let you know if the card has been returned to us. Registered students and staff should request replacement cards from the LIC Issue Desk (your library card is also your University ID card). Other users should request a replacement card at the library you normally use. A charge will be made for replacement cards.
Please ask at the LIC Information Desk. Unclaimed lost property in the LIC is normally sent to the porters in Fulton House every Monday.

Toilets for LIC users are situated on Level 2 West. There is a toilet for wheelchair users located on Level 3 West - turn right as you enter the library, go through the entrance and turn left.
If you have any suggestions about how Information Services & Systems could improve its services to you, please complete a Suggestions Form and leave it in the Suggestions Box which is close to the Self Return Unit. We check this box once a week and all signed suggestions will receive a reply. If the reply is of general interest it may be posted on the board above the Box.
