St. David's Park Library

St. David's Park Library is based at the St David's Park campus, Carmarthen. This was opened in November 2012 to support Health Sciences students being taught at the the St. David's Park campus. This library has been relocated from the Trinity St. David's campus.

The library is primarily for the use of Swansea University Health Sciences students studying at Carmarthen, but any registered student and member of staff is entitled to use the PC facilities and borrow items from the Library in person.

St. David's Park Library welcomes external visitors on a reference basis only.

Facilities

Open Access Computing & Printing

There are 31 Open Access PCs in St David's Park Library. They offer the full range of Open Access software, including: word processing, databases & spreadsheets, web browsers, networked databases and the Library Catalogue iFind.

 

There is a black and white laser printer located in the Admin Office. Charges are 5p per A4, payable at the Admin Office desk. 

Study Facilities

You may use the Study space when there is no teaching in progress.

Photocopying

There is one self service photocopier available for use at St David's Park Library, which is situated in the Library. Photocopying costs 5p per A4 sheet and 10p per A3 sheet. Payable at the Library desk.

 

Part-Time Services

Services for Part-Time and Distance Learners

We offer a number of specially designed services aimed at making your lives as part-time and distance students easier.

 

Students who may use the service include:

  • Part time students
  • Students living at a distance
  • Students who are on placement

Help and advice

Izzy Phillips is the Library coordinator and is based in the St. David's Park Library full-time.  She is available for help and advice on a wide range of topics including:

  • literature searching
  • Using databases such as CINAHL and ASSIA
  • Referencing queries
  • Finding Journal articles

Izzy is available to see students in groups or for one-to-one appointments at the St. David's Park Library, or you can just pop in to see her.

Placements

You will need to continue your academic studies whilst on placement, including writing essays and papers. You will find that you will need to use a library to retrieve information.

If you are working in a NHS hospital, you will be able to use the hospital’s library on a reference basis. Please get in touch with the Librarian at the hospital to see what is available to you as a student. For information about your closest health library, go to the Health Libraries Information Service Directory to search by name of hospital or geographical area.
