Michael is Associate Dean of the University’s Academic Board having previously been Associate Dean of the Faculty of Business Economics and Law and chairs the student cases committee for Post graduate Taught Masters provision.Michael is also the Director of the Legal Practice Course at Swansea and leads the Property Law and Practice module and Solicitors Accounts module. He is also responsible for delivering the Business Leases elective and assists on the Wills and Administration of Estates module.Michael has a broad range of private client and commercial experience including commercial acquisitions and development, secured lending and securities and commercial landlord and tenant.

His published works including The Extent of Easements and Enforceability of Covenants have been published in the Solicitors Journal along with many other articles; his refereed works, TLATA 1996 appeared in the Liverpool Law Review and more recently Undue Influence in The Conveyancer and Property Lawyer.

Following previous nominations Michael was awarded the Distinguished Teaching Award of Swansea University in July 2011 and he is an active member of the Swansea Academy of Learning and Teaching.

Academic/Employment Background

Qualifying in 1987 Michael joined the national firm of Bevan Ashford, and went on to become an Associate Solicitor with responsibility for recruiting trainees to their Bristol Office. In 1995 Michael then took up a position as a Senior Lecturer in Law on the newly validated LPC at UCLAN and became Course Leader of their GDL as well as teaching on undergraduate and postgraduate programmes and supervising research students. He was also Director of Training at Rawsthorns Solicitors.He joined the Swansea LPC as Course Director in 2004.
