Andrew has wide ranging experience of all aspects of Litigation. He has appeared in Courts at all levels up to the Court of Appeal on Criminal, Family and Civil matters. He is an Associate Tenant at Angel Chambers in Swansea. Andrew co-ordinates the development of Continuing Professional Development at Swansea. He is responsible for writing and assessing on the 3 duty adviser schemes for Criminal practitioners and is the Course Director for the Higher Rights of Audience Qualification. He previously taught on the BVC at Cardiff University and he has also delivered CPD events at Swansea. Andrew is also the Chief Examiner for Criminal Litigation at the Bar Standards Board for the Bar Professional Training Course.
Academic/employment background
Qualifying in 1984 whilst employed as a Magistrates’ Court Legal Adviser, Andrew went on to work for the Crown Prosecution Service in Swansea. He was in full time private practice at the Bar in Swansea between 1989 and 2001. In 2001 he commenced at Cardiff University Law School, joining Swansea at the inception of the LPC in 2004. Andrew retains links with the CPS in Swansea and West Wales.Andrew edited the ILEX Manuals for the Level 3 and 6 qualifications in 2006 and 2007. He has also contributed to the 9th Edition of “The English Legal System” by Slapper and Kelly. Andrew qualified as a Mediator in 2006 and as a Police Station Representative in 2011.
