At the College of Law and Criminology, we are committed to supporting the learning experience of our students by employing practical teaching methods and organising regular education trips.

In the first trip of the year, 30 LLM students spent a day in London on 2 December attending a seminar on Marine Insurance Law organised by Marsh -  a global leader in insurance broking and risk management which enjoys close ties with the Department of Shipping and Trade Law at Swansea - followed by a tour of the Lloyd's Building.

The seminar was designed so as to familiarise LLM students with the manner in which the London insurance market works. Students also had an opportunity to hear from the Senior Vice President of March, Mr Steve Harris, and the CEO of Marsh Marine, Mr David Ripton, of the contemporary challenges that the marine insurance sector faces.

Students found the day very interesting and educational. Associate Professor George Leloudas, who organised the trip on behalf of the Department, was very pleased with the student interest and indicated that another educational trip to London would be organised in the next term.
