This year in the Department of Shipping and Trade Law, we have launched a new initiative to encourage our LLM students to do even better.
Our new Excellence Awards are designed to recognise the achievements of students in the taught part of the LLM who reach the top 10% in the class. The 2016 awards were presented by Professor Baughen and Associate Professors George Leloudas and Theodora Nikaki at a ceremony in the College. The winners were as follows:
Ojonoka Elizabeth Agudah
Arestegui Jorge Chaves
Karl Lieven Depypere
Karin Roberts Garfjeld
Kirsten Clare Anne Jackson
Ayotomiwa Temitope Kehinde
Chidera Sylvia Obuka
Speaking after the ceremony, Associate Professor Theodora Nikaki, Deputy Head of the Department, said: "We have an astonishingly clever and vibrant LLM cohort at Swansea, drawn from all corners of the world. We aim to give them what they deserve: an impeccable contemporary legal education which is also practice-oriented. I certainly hope this award will alert its recipients to how close they are to achieving a distinction overall, and persuade them that it is worth working that little bit harder over the summer."
