Youth Participation Multi-Agency Conference

Youth Participation Multi-Agency Conference

This conference was held on 5th October 2011 at the Gorseinon Development Trust and was an opportunity to disseminate research findings with agencies and key local decision makers. The following key agencies attended the conference: the Welsh Government; Cabinet and other elected Members from the City and County of Swansea; academics from Swansea University; the Police; Swansea Youth Offending Service; Local Authority Officers; representatives of partnerships, e.g. the Swansea Substance Misuse Action Team; representatives of voluntary and faith groups; and youth-related networks such as Children in Wales and Save the Children Cymru.

The conference focused on using research to develop a quadralogue process (creating engagement and learning between: decision makers; practitioners; academics; and young people) and responding to the views and recommendations of young people. At the conference, it was agreed that, convened by Swansea University, a Standing Youth Conference should be established to encourage collaboration and the dissemination of best practice between agencies.
