Vice President of the Law Society visits the College of Law

“The President of the Law Society visited the College of Law in April 2013 at the suggestion of Rhys Jones, Development Executive in the Wales Office “to showcase the work of Swansea Law School, with a particular focus on the Legal Practice Course and the great work you do.” A roundtable discussion took place with senior Law academics and practitioners and current and former LPC students in practice over the future of legal education and fair access to the legal profession.

Following the success of this visit Michael Draper, Director of the Swansea Legal Practice Course, invited the current Vice President of the Law Society (and incoming president), Jonathan Smithers, to visit the College of Law on Friday November 14th 2014 to continue engagement between the Law Society and the College particularly having regard to the current Legal Education and Training Review. The Vice President was accompanied by Rhys Jones, Development Executive in the Wales Office and further developed discussions with the Director of the Swansea Legal Practice Course and the Acting Head of College, Andrew Beale, and Acting Head of the Department of legal Studies, Professor Karen Morrow and senior Law academics and practitioners along with the Student Law Society committee over the future of legal education and fair access to the legal profession.
