At Swansea, we are committed to supporting the learning experience of our students by employing practical teaching methods and organising regular education trips.
In the first trip of the year, 45 LLM students spent a day in London on 13 November visiting the historical Lloyd's Building followed by a seminar organised by Marsh- a global leader in insurance broking and risk management which enjoys close ties with the Department of Shipping and Trade Law at Swansea. The seminar was designed so as to familiarise LLM students with the manner in which the London insurance market works. Students also had an opportunity to hear from the Senior Vice President of March, Mr Steve Harris, of the contemporary challenges that the marine insurance sector faces. The day ended with a brief tour of the Marsh building which is in the heart of the London City.

Students found the day very interesting and educational. Dr George Leloudas, who organised the trip on behalf of the Department, was very pleased with the student interest and announced that another educational trip to London would be organised in December. He concluded by saying: "we are committed to improving student experience at Swansea and as long as student interest in such trips continues we shall do our best to respond!" Dr Leloudas was also quick to acknowledge the role that Mr David Vajnai, Assistant Vice President of Marsh's Global Marine Practice and graduate of our LLM, played in the organisation of the event. He finished saying “David is only an example of how our graduates could progress in the insurance sector. We are very proud of him and grateful for the assistance he provided in putting this excellent package to our new cohort of students.
