Hywel Dda and Richard Price University Research Centres established in the School of Law

On 11 October 2010, the University Research Committee established two new University Research Centres located in the School of Law. The Hywel Dda Research Institute will  provide intellectual leadership, direction, coordination and visibility for research and other associated activities within the School which fall under the broad heading of ‘Legal Wales’. The focus of the Richard Price Centre will be that global questions need to be approached as a matter of multi-level governance comprising the international, the European, the national and the subnational level. It is worthwhile noting that the Hywal Dda and the Richard Price centres both link to the great legal past and tradition in Wales, which predates modern devolution and provides the historical and intellectual context for it. By establishing these centres the University recognises existing research strengths, and the institutionalisation is an opportunity to further raise the profile of research in these areas.
