Swansea success in the new SRA External Examiner appointments

Four members of Swansea’s Department of Professional Legal Studies have been appointed as SRA external examiners.

The Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) has recently selected its new SRA external examiners for the new LPC to be offered in England and Wales from September 2009.

Over 400 applications were received from solicitors in practice and LPC professional tutors for just 65 posts.  In the midst of intense competition all four members of Swansea’s DLPS staff who applied have been successful in being selected:  Mrs Amanda Rees, Mrs Laura Howden-Evans and Dr Jon Howden-Evans will take up their posts this coming September; Mr Michael Draper will commence his post in September 2010.

Given the number of LPC provider institutions in England and Wales and the limited number of posts this is a very high proportion of external examiners from one Institution and demonstrates the high regard the SRA has for Swansea’s LPC and its staff.
