Swansea student Alun Wyn Jones has been named as part of Ian McGeechan's 37-man British and Irish Lions squad for the three-test summer tour to South Africa.  Full details of the squad announced today (21 April 2009) are available here.

Alun Wyn is widely held to be one of the best second row forwards in the game, and captained Wales in the Six Nations' match against Italy.

Alun Wyn is studying law at Swansea University, where he is studying part-time to allow him to balance his rugby ambitions with gaining a qualification that will help him to build a career outside rugby.

As one of Swansea University's Elite Athletes, he was awarded a Sports Scholarship on entering his degree programme.

The Scholarships, worth £3,000 over the duration of a degree, are awarded to talented young men and women who have the potential to become world-class, and the scholarship represents a commitment from the University to helping them develop both academically and as sporting competitors.
