The LLM Degrees offered by Swansea Receive the Recognition of International Legal Practice

    Schultz Prize (Small)

Following their introduction in 2000 the reputation of the LLM degrees offered by the School of Law of Swansea University in the realm of international shipping, trade and commercial law has grown immensely, with Swansea now being one of the main providers of specialist degrees in these areas.

The LLM programmes attract students from all corners of the world, and the Swansea LLM degree is well-known and respected in international shipping, trade, banking and insurance sectors. Attracted by the international recognition of the LLM degrees, Ince & Co (the international law firm, with a network of offices in Dubai, Hamburg, Hong Kong, Le Havre, London, Paris, Piraeus, Shanghai and Singapore) has recently introduced an annual prize for the student who achieves the highest grade in the taught element of any of the LLM Programmes. A condition of the award is that the winning student’s specialisation on the LLM Programme has a direct connection with the work undertaken by the firm.

The winner of this year’s prize, Florian Schulz, was presented with the award by James Wilson, the Senior Partner of Ince & Co, at a ceremony held at the firm’s London office on 2 July 2008. Florian is completing his LLM degree in International Maritime Law at Swansea, having graduated from the University of Heidelberg in Germany.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr Wilson wished Florian well for his studies and professional life and commended the members of the School of Law at Swansea for the service they provide to the sector in delivering LLM degrees which are contemporary and practical.
