Students have their say
"My three years at Swansea have been memorable. I obtained a degree in a subject I'm passionate about, made some great lifelong friends, gained valuable work experience and I have developed and matured both intellectually and as a person, all of which will benefit me in my future and chosen career path."
“I was attracted to Swansea by the forward thinking ethos of the College of Law and Criminology and the clear recognition of the need to provide students not only with passionately delivered lectures, but also with the necessary skills and work opportunities to prepare them for a career post-graduation. The unwavering effort of my personal and academic tutors has been invaluable in fuelling my passion for the law. I was also attracted to Swansea for its unrivalled location. A stone’s throw away from the beach, Mumbles and the Gower - it really doesn’t get much better than that!
“My aspiration is to be a barrister at the Commercial and Chancery Bar and I received a scholarship award from COMBAR (Commercial Bar Association) which provided me with the opportunity to work with a leading commercial barristers’ chamber in London and shadow a High Court judge.”
“Choosing to study Law at Swansea University has opened several doors of opportunities. I am now confident in the ambitious goals I wish to pursue. I know that I will continue to appreciate the endless aspects, fields and positions that my law degree has empowered me with. Just knowing that twice a week I would meet up with argumentative, opinionated and vocal students was always something to look forward to! I really enjoyed the different debates and topics that I would never get the chance to discuss to in a regular day.”

"I've loved studying Law at Swansea University. Law affects us all every day of our lives so to understand how it works is really important. The lecturers and seminar tutors at Swansea are all so knowledgeable and their teaching has helped me gain good grades so far. I look forward to taking the Legal Practice Course after my degree and hope to have a career as a Barrister or Solicitor Advocate when my studies are complete."
''I am undertaking a traineeship with the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea in Hamburg. I am responsible for drafting, presenting memoranda and conducting legal research on topics of interest to the tribunal. Its work revolves around the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea and adjudicating disputes by applying and interpreting the convention. The education I received at Swansea has broadened my horizons and opened my mind. The skills I developed and learned here put me in the position to be able to have an international career and this is what I hope to continue working on.''

"It was not just the crisp sea air, it was the people I met, the goals I overcame, memories I'll never forget, and the confidence I built that gave me a breath of fresh air and a new lease of life. Swansea gives you so much support to see you through your studies."
"My time at Swansea was one of the happiest times of my life. Fantastic grounds, superb academic lectures and outstanding pastoral support. If I had the chance I would do it all again."

"My three years here were challenging but I am really glad I decided to study at Swansea. The staff are very supportive and helpful."
"The staff always made me feel welcome, they were always available to help and take a real interest in student care."
"It's a friendly, lively and interesting department which enables students to pursue their studies in a stimulating environment. The quality of teaching is excellent. I feel confident I have developed the skills necessary to embark upon a legal career. Undertaking study at Swansea will prove educationally and socially rewarding."
"I made my choice to study law at Swansea from a 50-storey tower block overlooking Lake Michigan in Chicago. I was working as a Marketing Consultant but decided it was time to obtain a well respected degree to improve my employment prospects and develop my intellectual skills. While studying law is not for the faint-hearted, the staff at Swansea make it a rewarding and enjoyable experience. Since graduating I have worked alongside academics as a Research Associate, primarily in the fields of human rights and family law."
"When I began life as an undergraduate at Swansea, I was able-bodied. Yet, by the end of my first year I had become disabled and confined to a wheelchair, which obviously meant that I had different needs and requirements from able-bodied students. In ensuring that these needs were met, I found that the School's staff to be not only supportive and encouraging but also extremely kind, helpful and accommodating."
