School of Law recently hosted its annual Careers & Networking Fair

On 6th March 2013 the School of Law hosted its annual Careers & Networking Fair which was attended by representatives from a wide range of local and international organisations including Eversheds, Morgan Cole, Holman Fenwick LLP, Ince & Co, StretLaw, and The Britannia Steam Ship Insurance just to name a few. Over 100 of our Law students attended the event which enabled the students to meet and talk face to face with representatives from the organisations who specialise in different areas of Law including: commercial, Intellectual Property, shipping and transport, insurance, as well as international trade. The representatives gave valuable advice to our students on the recruitment process. The representatives from the organisations were impressed with the quality of our students and the questions they asked.

Following the event one representatives Stephen New, Trainee Solicitor at Eversheds commented that “We were delighted to be involved in the Careers Fair at Swansea University. We enjoyed speaking with the students who had some great questions for us and showed a real interest in Eversheds and a career in the law. Our trainees were on hand to offer practical advice on our recruitment process and the opportunities available at Eversheds.”

Career Fair 2013‌‌‌

Another representative Gary Walters, Managing Director,  at StretLaw® which is an organisation which provides a platform and forum for enhanced career development said “An enthusiastic cohort of students, from LLB, LLM, GDL and LPC. We had insightful conversations with all and many signed up for our Welsh National Mooting Championship with overall first-prize being a mini-pupillage at Civitas Law, Cardiff. A great incentive, a good day and we look forward to attending next year”.

Dr Jon Howden-Evans, Deputy Head of the School of Law said “It is always pleasing to hear the feedback from our students and the employers attending the Fair – once again the ‘usefulness’ of the event was the first thing that all mentioned.  It was great to see so many different employers, including international City firms and our leading regional firms - and  receive their comments as to the high calibre of Swansea Law Students.  We look forward to welcoming these employers back together with new firms in the next academic year”.
