Desktop service for staff and students

Description of the service

Swansea University’s Desktop Services for staff and students covers many aspects of the use of PCs in staff and student areas.

For students it includes :

  • The provision and support of PCs in Open Access areas and centrally timetabled PC labs
  • Enabling access to PCs, software and services
  • The provision of managed printing services
  • The provision, support and development of software and software deployment services


For staff it includes (but is not limited to)

  • The provision and support of PCs and other managed devices, in partnership with IT teams in Colleges and Schools across the University
  • The provision and support of PCs and other managed devices, in partnership with Professional Services departments
  • Enabling access to PCs, software and services
  • The provision of managed printing services
  • The provision, support and development of software and software deployment services
  • Advice and support for the specification, purchase and installation of PCs, mobile devices, printing services, and other associated items

Hours of operation / support

This service is available 24/7, 365 days a year.

The support is offered by the Customer Service Team, whose hours vary across the academic year – these can be found here.

More complex queries that the Customer Service Team are unable to resolve will be dealt with between 8.30am and 4.30pm, Monday to Friday.
