How do I apply?

The Meet and Greet service is available only to students who have been made an offer to study at Swansea University. The registration for 2017 Meet and Greet service is now open.

I am not able to register to the event online

Yes, you can still use the service. Unfortunately, the system does not always allow students to register if they are not enrolling as a full time international student. Please email ido@swansea.ac.uk and a copy of the form will be sent to you.

How do I pay for my ticket?

Registration must first be completed before payment.

If you wish to pay online in advance, the cost will be £32 per student.

Please note the online payment is only available for students. Family and friends travelling with the students will need to pay cash at the airport. Students can pay £40 in cash at the terminal for the service. Please ensure that you have British Currency, as staff are unable to take payment in other currencies.

Please ensure that upon arrival that you have sterling cash available as upon arrival at Bay or Singleton Campus you will need to make a payment, should you require a taxi to transport you to a further destination.

What time will my bus depart?

On Friday 22nd of September and Saturday 23rd of September buses will operate between the hours of 8am to 8pm (20:00), and will depart Heathrow airport approximately every 1- 2 hours.  Our service will operate on a first come first serve basis, so when purchasing your ticket we will endeavour to board you on the next available bus.  Please note that this is not always possible, and you may need to be patient and wait up to 3 hours.

I am not arriving into Terminal 3, how do I get there from Terminal 1, 4, 5?

Travel between terminals in Heathrow is very simple. From Terminal 1 you can walk to Terminal 3 Arrivals. From Terminals 4 and 5, there is a free train that operates between the terminals. Details on how to travel around Heathrow Airport can be found here: http://www.heathrowairport.com/heathrow-airport-guide/travel-between-terminals

If my flight is delayed, will I still be able to use the service?

As long as your flight arrives before the last coach is due to depart Heathrow Airport, we will ensure that you travel back to Swansea on the same day.  If you arrive after 8pm on Friday the 22nd or 9pm on Saturday 23rd, you can either travel by National Express to Swansea, or you will need to make your own transport arrangements to Swansea.

How much luggage can I take on the coach?

The recommended luggage limit for the airport transfer bus is a maximum of 2 suitcases and 1 small piece of hand luggage per person. If you have more luggage than this, we cannot guarantee you a place on the 1st available bus; although we will ensure that you will be able to travel back to Swansea University.

I am intending to bring luggage that is not a standard suitcase, is this possible?

Depending on the item, we may be able to assist you. Please contact our team if you intend on bringing musical instruments or anything which is not a standard suitcase size. Contact our team on ido@swansea.ac.uk with the details of the item you are intending on bringing to the UK.

Am I able to withdraw cash in Heathrow Airport?

Yes, Heathrow Airport has cash machines in all Terminals. You will need to check with your bank to ensure you are able to withdraw funds when overseas. Details of cash machines in the Terminals can be found here: http://www.heathrow-airport-guide.co.uk/cash-facilities.html

Please ensure that upon arrival that you have sterling cash available as upon arrival at Bay or Singleton Campus you will need to make a payment, should you require a taxi to transport you to a further destination.

Can I arrange accommodation when I arrive at Swansea?

You are responsible for arranging their accommodation before travelling to Swansea.  If you have any enquiries about accommodation, you can email us on ido@swansea.ac.uk.

If you are planning to arrange accommodation upon arrival into Swansea, hotels will likely be fully booked in advance due to it being arrivals weekend for all students, so we recommend that you book in advance.

How long is the coach trip to Swansea?

Travel time to Swansea University is between 3 to 4 hours, depending on traffic.

Will I be taken to my accommodation?

The bus service will alternate between the Bay Campus and Singleton Campus. If you have arranged accommodation at the Bay Campus and Ty Beck House, we recommend that you to take the coach departing for the Bay Campus. If you have arranged accommodation at Singleton Campus and Hendrefoelan Student Village, we recommend for you to take the departing for Singleton Campus. However, students are welcome to take either service. There will be a regular bus service between both campuses and the city centre.

If you are arriving late at night, your keys will be available to collect during the course of the arrivals weekend. If you are staying in private accommodation, taxis will be available on both campuses to take you to your destination, and our team of helpers based on both campuses will be able to assist you with your luggage.
