Postgraduate application lifecycle

1. Choose a Course
Your starting point to gaining a place at University is to choose what course or subject you wish to study from our Courses page or our Prospectus.

2. Make an application
When applying for a postgraduate degree be sure to include the following:

A fully completed application form
2 references
A Resume (CV)
A Personal Statement
Copy of qualifications to date, ie, degree certificate and transcripts
English language score (IELTS,TOEFL, etc.), if available

Apply Online using the OnTrack system.
This option is ideal for all postgraduate candidates, with the exception of our Postgraduate Legal Practice Certificate, and Graduate Diploma in Law programmes. If you have any queries about how to apply feel free to contact us in the Admissions Office. Your school, college or local British Council office can help you with your application form. UKCOSA have published a useful set of guidance notes for students that may help you with your application.

Upon receiving your online Application form we will send you a confirmation email or letter outlining your application and the timescale of a decision.

3. Keep Track of your Application
With the OnTrack online application system you can view the progress of your application system. On applying you will be given a unique reference number, which you can then use to load a saved application form.  Your application, whilst being completed, can be saved at various points before being submitted; an uncompleted application can be returned to up to 1 month after you started it.

If you have applied online you will receive regular email updates on what stage your application is at e.g. when your application has arrived, when it has been forwarded to a departmental admission tutor, when the department has made a decision about your application and when the decision letter has been sent.

4. Receive a Decision on your application
The decision letter will outline if you have been successful in your application and, if you have, will offer you a place to study at Swansea.

5. Return your Acceptance Slip
If you applied directly to the University you must return your decision letter confirming your acceptance of the offer to study at Swansea University.

If you applied through UCAS then notification of your acceptance should be made through them.

6. If you have a Conditional Offer
If you hold a conditional offer then you will need to provide evidence of that you can meet the terms of the offer to the Admissions offer. This can be transcripts, certificates, IELTS certificate, TOEFL etc

7. If you didn't receive the grades you need to meet your offer
Don't Panic! There may still be a place for you to study so always contact us in order to discuss your application. admissions-enquiries@swansea.ac.uk

8. You have a Confirmed Place at Swansea University
You will be sent a Welcome Pack detailing important information for you to know before beginning your Course. As an International applicant there will also be support offered for your Visa application and the International Students Handbook which provides important information for you before you leave.

 

EU STUDENTS

EU students apply through the same route as our home students.  However, English language requirements apply. 

Overseas and European applicants will need to meet English Language requirements prior to commencing studies. An IELTS score of at least 6.5 or a TOEFL score of at least 570 (230 in the computer based test) is deemed acceptable for all schemes.
