UMBC is a member of the University System of Maryland and is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools. The Carnegie Foundation ranks UMBC in the category of Research Universities with high research activity.

UMBC is located on 500 acres 15 minutes from Baltimore’s Inner Harbour and 30 minutes from Washington, D.C. BWI Airport is five minutes away, as are AMTRAK and light rail stations. A total of 13,979 students are in attendance at UMBC.

Swansea University currently has a University-wide agreement in place with the University of Maryland at Baltimore County (UMBC).

Global Opportunities Bursary - £1000

The Global Opportunities Bursary is available for students spending a semester or a year studying abroad outside of Europe as part of their degree (except Texas).

The International Development Office provides students with a £1000 bursary, once students have submitted all the necessary paperwork.
