University of Central Oklahoma Overview

The University of Central Oklahoma prepares future leaders in an opportunity-rich environment. Located in Edmond, Central is one of the top public universities in Oklahoma City's thriving metropolitan area.

Oklahoma's metropolitan university, Central offers more than 17,000 students an innovative learning community where teaching comes first, a commitment seeded in the university's roots as a teachers' college. Students develop personal relationships with more than 950 staff which are guided by the mission of helping students learn and committed to transforming lives.

With 116 undergraduate majors and 70 graduate majors Central offers a wide range of courses. Located in downtown Oklahoma City's Bricktown district. The university also opened the CHK|Central Boathouse on the Oklahoma River in 2015. Central also is one of two universities in the country named an official U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Training Site.

Swansea University currently has a University-wide agreement in place with the University of Central Oklahoma.

Please note: the International Student Orientation is mandatory and it is broken in two parts; students must attend both meetings on August the 18th and August the 24th for Semester 1 and on January the 4th and January the 11th for Semester 2.

Application Deadline: 31st July 2018 for Semester 1 and 16th November 2018 for Semester 2.

Health Insurance is required for all visiting students. UCO provides health insurance that is available to purchase, however buying UCO insurance can be waived if own insurance is provided and meets all of UCO's coverage. To learn more about insurance and UCO's policies, please visit the website.

Additional Fees: any medical services that insurance does not cover are subject to additional fees, in addition to textbooks that may be required for classes.


Housing and Meal Plans

Students have the opportunity to choose to live on-campus or off-campus during their visit. Learn more about housing opportunities on-campus at UCO Housing. For students interested in living off-campus please visit Off-Campus Living and Central Plaza.

Move-It to On-Campus Housing is available during the week prior to the first day of classes. Off-Campus Move-In availability varies and is determined after communication with your place of residence. 

Meal Plans are available for students to purchase in order to eat on campus. Meal Plans are optional, however if students choose to live on-campus they must purchase a meal plan. To learn more about Meal Plans, please visit the dedicated website

Global Opportunities Bursary - £1000

The Global Opportunities Bursary is available for students spending a semester or a year studying abroad outside of Europe as part of their degree (except Texas).

The International Development Office provides students with a £1000 bursary, once students have submitted all the necessary paperwork.
