The University of Bonn was founded almost 200 years ago and is considered to be one of Germany's and indeed Europe's most important institutes of higher education. Home of learning to over 34,000 students, the university of Bonn enjoy an outstanding reputation both at home and abroad.

The International Office at the University of Bonn does not organise accommodation but does provide students with information and advice.

Students should apply early online early in order to secure a room in a student dormitory here. The monthly rent is between 200- 550 € dependant on your room choice.

As a student dormitory cannot be guaranteed students are advised to look into private housing as well more information can be found here.

Costs

The average cost of living for one month living in Bonn is 650-800 €, this is dependant on the cost of your accommodation.

All students need to pay a fee of around 270€ per semester when enrolling at the University of Bonn. This includes a semester ticket for public transport and is not a tuition fee.

Erasmus+ Grant - approx 280-430€

The Erasmus+ Grant is dependent on location, and varies in each country. It is available for students who decide to spend up to a year of their course in Europe in 2017-18 through the Erasmus+ programme. Students can receive grants of up to 380 euros per month for study, or up to 430 euros per month for student traineeships, depending on the country they go to. This grant is a contribution to the extra costs of studying abroad, which is why it varies by country.
