The University of Bonn was founded almost 200 years ago and is considered to be one of Germany's and indeed Europe's most important institutes of higher education. Home of learning to over 34,000 students, the university of Bonn enjoy an outstanding reputation both at home and abroad.
  
Swansea University currently has agreements in place with the University of Bonn for the College of Arts and Humanities and the department of English.

Orientation (Welcome Week): takes place one week before or at the beginning of each semester (beginning October/April). Attendance is highly recommended as individual support for late arrivals is very restricted. Organisational matters including enrolment take place only during the orientation!!

Examinations may take place during the first weeks after the lecture period. For details please ask the Erasmus departmental coordinator.

Semester ticket
All students need to pay a fee of about € 290 per semester when enrolling at the University of Bonn after arrival. It includes a semester ticket for all public transportation in and around Bonn
Note: This is NOT a tuition fee.

Accommodation

As in many university towns, the housing situation in Bonn, is quite difficult. So students are highly advised to apply very early for a room in a dormitory, but also to start searching for private accommodation as early as possible.
Students are responsible for arranging their accommodation. The International Office of the University of Bonn itself does not arrange accommodation, but supports students with information and advice.

Erasmus+ Grant - approx 280-430€

The Erasmus+ Grant is dependent on location, and varies in each country. It is available for students who decide to spend up to a year of their course in Europe in 2017-18 through the Erasmus+ programme. Students can receive grants of up to 380 euros per month for study, or up to 430 euros per month for student traineeships, depending on the country they go to. This grant is a contribution to the extra costs of studying abroad, which is why it varies by country.
