United International College Overview

UIC shoulders the historical mission of advancing the internationalization of Chinese higher education and taking the lead in implementing liberal arts education in China. Since its first enrolment in 2005, UIC has grown into an international institution with innovative educational approaches.

There are approximately 4400 students now, including those from Hong Kong, Macau and overseas. Teaching staff from more than 20 countries and regions make it possible for UIC to use English as the medium of instruction.

Swansea University currently has agreements in place with United International College (UIC) for the College of Arts & Humanities.

Accommodation

Students live in student hostels. The halls are situated in the Student Hostels and Cultural Village, in which includes a canteen, a climbing gym, squares, music and arts studios, the Learning Resource Centre and more. The majority of the rooms in the Student Hostel accommodate two students. Each student will have a bed, closet, desk, shelf, and an internet jack connected to UIC’s network system. Other facilities include a common lounge (kitchenette included) on each floor, a multi-purpose room, a study room & a laundry area.

All visiting and exchange  students will be roomed in a two-person room with a Chinese buddy in Student Hostel Culture Village, UIC main campus. 

Costs

Accomodation cost is approximately 2500RMB/semester.

Global Opportunities Bursary - £1000

The Global Opportunities Bursary is available for students spending a semester or a year studying abroad outside of Europe as part of their degree (except Texas).

The International Development Office provides students with a £1000 bursary, once students have submitted all the necessary paperwork.
