University of New Brunswick Overview

The University of New Brunswick is a community like no other; you will be studying with over 9,000 students from across Canada and 100 other countries across the world.   The University of New Brunswick Fredericton is a welcoming and vibrant community that gives you the opportunity to discover yourself: who you are, what kind of person you want to be, and where you want to go. As you walk through the campus that overlooks the beautiful St. John River, on the same ground that students before you have walked on for the last two centuries – it’s hard not to be inspired. Small class sizes, personalized attention, and a huge variety of programs is what you'll find at the UNB Fredericton campus.

Swansea University currently has a University-wide agreement in place with the University of New Brunswick.

For the Fredericton campus, exchange students can apply online for On Campus accommodation once they are accepted to study at UNB. Rooms are assigned based on deposit paid date. Students who apply and pay their deposit by May 15th are guaranteed a room in residence. The earlier you pay the greater the chance of you receiving your first choice. First year students usually assigned a double room, these tend to be cheaper than single rooms but does involve you sharing a room. Residential services do their best to pair you up with someone similar to yourself in order to limit any friction.

Residence is an easy and convenient place to stay and a great way to meet people and be active in the UNB community. Most of the residences are on campus, the oteres are no more than a 15 minute walk away. The Fredericton has 14 residences including 1 all female and 1 all male residence. Every House has Internet, cable and telephones as well as its own character, culture and traditions. Find the one where you’ll feel most at home!

If you live in a traditional residence (with the exception of Maggie Jean Chestnut) then you will also be required to purchase a meal plan.

Global Opportunities Bursary - £1000

The Global Opportunities Bursary is available for students spending a semester or a year studying abroad outside of Europe as part of their degree (except Texas).

The International Development Office provides students with a £1000 bursary, once students have submitted all the necessary paperwork.
