UCAS Conventions

Swansea University attends a large number of UCAS Conventions each year. These run from March to July of each year, and are primarily aimed at Year 12 (or equivalent) students. UCAS Conventions provide a chance for your students to find out more about HE courses and institutions before they apply.

To find your nearest convention visit the UCAS Conventions website

Top tips for students attending UCAS conventions

  • Be selective. Make a short list of universities you are interested in and look at their website in advance. If possible, make a note of their stand number too.
  • Be prepared. Think of what you need to know in advance and prepare some questions. Don’t forget to ask about location, transport links, accommodation and the social life.
  • Don’t pick up every prospectus! If a University does not offer any courses you are interested in, you don’t need to pick up their prospectus, it will only end up in the bin!
  • Attend the talks. UCAS fairs will have talks on Student Finance, How to Apply, Student Life and many other topics. Check the convention guide or website for details on times and locations.
  • Speak to the staff. Each university will have a member of staff on the stand who will be able to answer any questions you may have.
  • Pick up a bag! Prospectuses tend to be quite large and heavy, so if you want to carry a lot you’ll need a bag. Stop by the Swansea University stand to pick one up!
  • Try to plan your time so you can see every university you want to. But don’t worry if you can’t get to everyone, you will be able to order a prospectus and find out other information on the university’s website.
