Swansea University

Welcome

The Centre aims to further the study of perhaps the greatest philosopher of the 20th Century. The implications of Wittgenstein’s work are still being explored world-wide. Membership of the Centre includes Dr Mario von der Ruhr (Director), Dr Ieuan Williams, Mr H O Mounce (Research Fellow) and Professor David Cockburn (Lampeter). The Centre also corresponds with a wide range of members in academic institutions around the UK and internationally. Members of the Centre continue to pursue their own research in the area of Wittgensteinian Studies. Research is based on the Rush Rhees Archive, named after one of Wittgenstein’s literary executives and a leading exponent of his thought. The Centre is also the home of the Wiley-Blackwell journal Philosophical Investigations.  Over 2,800 libraries worldwide now provide access to the current content of the journal. The journal is the world centre for papers on Wittgenstein.
