Lindsey's Story

What did you do prior to studying at Swansea University?

Before studying at Swansea University, I completed my A-levels in Psychology, Biology, Religious Studies and Health and Social Care at Neath Port Talbot College.

How did you feel when you entered the clearing process?

I felt a bit frustrated because I didn’t expect to have to go through clearing after working so hard in my A-levels and achieving AAB, but also nervous in the sense that I didn’t know whether or not I was actually going to get a place at university as they were all filling up so quickly!

Why did you choose Swansea University after going through the clearing process?

Out of all of the universities I phoned up after results day (there were quite a few), Swansea was the only one that couldn’t do enough to help me! I spoke to Karen and she put me at ease straight away! I think she was the only person who had actually told me that I’d done well in my A-levels and that made me feel as though all my hard work had actually paid off!

What would you say to other students going through the same thing?

Relax! Don’t stress! You will find somewhere to study your chosen subject, and although it may not be your first or second choice, I’m sure you’ll have a great time regardless! University is what you make it!

What’s been your highlight whilst studying at Swansea University?

This is a hard one, because I’ve had so many great times in a space of a year! But I’d have to say Varsity was such a fantastic day and night! There was such a strong sense of togetherness and team spirit, it made me proud to say I’m a Swansea Uni student!

What’s been your favourite part of the course so far?

Is it cheesy to say everything? I just love the course so much, all of the material has been so interesting and engaging and I’ve definitely made friends for life from doing this course!

What are your plans/hopes for the future?

After I complete my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, I hope to go on to do my Master’s degree, which will almost definitely be at Swansea. I love it so much, I don’t want to leave!

Would you recommend Swansea University to other students?

Yes, without a doubt! Swansea University is like a second home, there’s such a strong sense of family! If you need help, your lecturers are just an email away and in my case, mine have always said I can go see them for further help, they really do care and I can’t give them enough praise… Nothing is too much trouble.
