Swansea University are pleased to announce the 17th International Reflective Practice Conference, hosted by the esteemed College of Human and Health Sciences at Sketty Hall, Swansea.

With renowned international reflective practice keynote speakers, including Dr Janette Wetsel, Central University of Oklahoma, USA, and Professor Melanie Jasper and Professor Judy McKimm, both of Swansea University, this is your chance to visit our city by the sea.

Costs

Costs for the International Reflective Practice Conference 2013 are as follows:

  • Full 3 day conference pass*: £220              
    Earlybird booking rate (Deadline May 1st 2013): £190
  • One day pass: £100
  • Half day pass: £65

 
*A discounted rate of £190 will apply to the following groups for the Full 3 Day Conference Pass:

  • ABMU/Hywel Dda/Powys health boards and WAST staff
  • Students (showing valid student ID)
  • Swansea University staff

Accommodation

Swansea University's on campus accommodation is close to the conference venue, clean, neat and secure. All rooms are en-suite.

 

If you would like to stay at the Swansea University campus accommodation, please let us know at the point of booking.

 

Singleton Residences are very close to the centre of Swansea University's compact campus. The residences comprise over 700 Single Ensuite and over 20 Twin Ensuite bedrooms, many with fantastic views across Swansea Bay towards Devon, west to Mumbles and east to Porthcawl.On campus at the University there are many facilities, including:

  • Restaurants, bistros and bars on site and Arts centre with a full theatre and cinema programme
  • Swansea sports village

Single, twin and double rooms are available on Campus (although the majority are single occupancy) and all include a continental or cooked breakfast.

  • Keynote address (pm): Professor Judy McKimm, Swansea University: Developing medical leader identity through reflection and narrative

A call for abstracts has been issued and can be viewed by clicking the link on the right hand side of this page. If you are interested in any of the themes we would welcome the opportunity to hear from you.

 

Journal of Reflective Practice

The conference will also have a close association with the international, multi-disciplinary journal, Reflective Practice. After the conference, a special edition of the journal will be released to showcase the event; this will allow for key note speakers and core papers to be published in a journal which is currently recognised in the Research Excellence Framework.

Selected abstracts and full papers will be published in a supplementary edition of the International Reflective Journal, due to be published 2013
