Welcome to our Practice Suite
Our normal birth space encourages student midwives to focus on supporting women in labour using the latest kit suggested by the National Childbirth Trust. This includes a birth pool, birthing balls, a couch and mats. Our brand new, high spec mannequin can give birth in the pool on all fours or sitting upright.
In our complex care room students learn skills associated with more complicated labours and births.
Our equipment includes the most up to date adult and neonatal mannequins for students to practice skills required for breech birth and dealing with emergencies in childbirth such as haemorrhage and neonatal life support. We have a neonatal resuscitation station and a brand new high spec baby mannequin for students to both learn and refine life support skills.
We also have the luxury of a third learning space where we have created a skills laboratory to practice more complex midwifery interventions such as perineal suturing. Students and staff take great pride in our midwifery practice suite; it’s our space to learn and develop midwifery skills. And to top it all off our practice suite has some of the best sea views in Wales.
