Module Aims

This module aims to:

1.Provide health care professionals with the knowledge, understanding, attitudes and skills which will enable them to provide better care for renal patients at all stages of disease progression.

2.Enable health care professionals working in nephrology or working with patients with renal disease to critically analyse current issues in nephrology.

3.Prepare health care professionals to provide a high quality service to patients accessing the renal services.

Module Aims

This module aims to:

1.Provide health care professionals with the knowledge, understanding, attitudes and skills which will enable them to provide better care for renal patients at all stages of disease progression.

2.Enable health care professionals working in nephrology or working with patients with renal disease to critically analyse current issues in nephrology and to prepare health care professionals to provide a high quality service to patients accessing the renal services.

These stand-alone modules are designed for health care professionals who have a significant role in the care of patients with renal disease, and as such, are taught by clinical specialists and experts within the field of nephrology. The modules provides health care professionals with the necessary knowledge and skills to enhance their care and management of the person with renal disease. The emphasis is on the health continuum, including pre-dialysis management, renal replacement therapy and the promotion of a full and satisfying lifestyle. Throughout the module students will be encouraged to critically analyse clinical practice with reference to national guidelines and strategies for the assessment and management of patients with renal disease. This will enable practitioners to become more confident and competent in their own practice.

They are suitable for healthcare professionals working within the specialty of nephrology.
