Continuing Professional Development
If you are already working in a field related to the human and health sciences, you may want to enhance your skills or meet new professional requirements in your work place. You can do this by studying with us.
The College has many continuing professional development opportunities including modules, post-registration degrees and awards and we also hold subject specific events.
Stand-alone Modules
To ensure that education is accessible to all, the College offers a wide range of modules, across all subject areas, at:
Midwifery Programmes and Study Days
Midwifery post-registration programmes now link directly to the Enhanced Professional Practice degrees at level three and Master's level.
Full Awards
Full awards are certificates, diplomas and degrees that can be studied by students learning at level two and above.
Adaptation for Overseas Nurses/Return to Practice
The Overseas Nurses Programme prepares nurses from overseas to achieve the competencies required for NMC registration.
The Return to Practice Programme, approved by the NMC is available for Nurses and Midwives who have had a break from NHS employment.
Accreditation of Prior Learning
Accreditation for prior (certificated) learning is where credit is awarded for learning which has already been assessed and certificated as part of a completed or partly completed course undertaken in Higher Education (e.g. a previous degree). Sometimes there may be overlap between the original and the new programme of study.
Accreditation of prior (experiential) learning is where ‘learning achieved outside education or training systems is assessed and, as appropriate, recognised for academic purposes’ (Quality Assurance Agency 2004).
