Datuk Ir. Khairol Anuar Mohamad Tawi
Datuk Ir. Khairol Anuar Mohamad Tawi graduated from what was then University College of Swansea, Wales in 1983, with a first class BSc (Hons) Degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering. He is the Executive Chairman and founder of KAT Technologies Sdn Bhd.
The KAT Group of companies was first established in 1994 and was the pioneer company in mobile prepaid distribution business when prepaid services were first introduced in Malaysia in 1999. KAT Technologies is now a multi-million pound company distributing leading prepaid brands including ALTEL, Celcome and iTalk.
Swansea University Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor Iwan Davies presented the award. He said: “KAT’s mission to become a global company is set to be achieved under Datuk Khairol’s leadership, and through his extraordinary focus and ambition, qualities that have defined him in his education including that at Swansea University, and throughout his eminent career.”
On receiving his award, Datuk Ir. Khairol Anuar Mohamad Tawi said: “It is with great honour and humility that I accept this award from my alma mater, Swansea University. I feel proud, privileged and at the same time, humbled to have been recognised and acknowledged by Swansea University’s Council, Senate and Court to have been deemed worthy of this award.
It is my sincere hope that this award will act as a springboard for the coming together of Swansea University, and my organisation, the KAT Group of Companies, to develop programmes and projects, in the fields of industry and academia.”
