The International Development team develops the international student base through effective recruitment of international students. We also strengthen study and work abroad programmes through targeted international scholarships and extend Swansea’s global reach through the creation of international partnerships.

Recent highlights

  • International enrolment up 18% (from 105 countries)
  • 93% rate Go Global inbound and short /summer programmes as "excellent or good"
  • 20% increase in mobility programmes
  • €175K awarded for mobility in the US, China and New Zealand + €618K for mobility within the EU

Meet the Team

Sian Impey, Head of International Development Office 01792 602780

Sian’s role involves driving internationalisation activity across the University including study and work abroad programmes, staff and student mobility and international partnership development. She has spent the last 18 years working in the area of international higher education and has specialised in a number of areas including international student recruitment, student and staff mobility and the management of international research collaboration. With undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in modern languages and having spent a number of years studying and working overseas, Sian is a great advocate of the benefits of internationalisation in higher education. She has been at Swansea University since 2007, prior to which she worked at the University of Southampton.
