Depending on the source, funds to undertake postgraduate research are awarded on the basis of either the project being of a high quality (in which case the funding will exist when we advertise the project), or the merits of both the applicant and the project (in which case the School will put you forward for funding in a competition against other students applying for to undertake postgraduate research).

We have tried to make the application procedure as simple as possible. If you are interested in doing postgraduate research at Swansea, here is what you should do...

Step 1 Check out the sort of research degree you can do and the requirements to check you match them

Step 2 Decide on the research topic that interests you and identify any potential funding opportunities.  If you are not applying for a specific research topic, please include a Research Proposal (Physical Geography) form or a Research Proposal Form (Human Geography) form with your application.     

Step 3 Read the application procedures

Step 4 Contact the respective member of staff or the School's Recruitment & Marketing Officer, Sandra Kramcha if you require any additional information or support to help you make your application.

Step 5 Make your application. All applications to research postgraduate programmes should be made direct to The Admissions Office and not the Department or School. Information on how to apply and application forms can be obtained from the Admissions Office web site.
