We’ve been super busy over the summer vacation period working with our colleagues in Project Services, ISS and SALT to bring you a number of new and enhanced learning environments at the Bay and Singleton Park Campus.

As with all our learning environments, we very much encourage students to make use of the spaces when they are not in use for teaching.

Singleton Park Campus

Coming Soon to Union House

Due to open at the end of October, Floor 3 of the Union House Building will offer a 120 capacity PC lab, a 40 person capacity PC lab and a seminar room for 60.

Floor 2 is currently closed while being fully refitted to provide three new seminar rooms to accommodate 60, 60 and 240 people. These spaces will be available for use at the start of the second semester.

You can access these spaces either via the stairs from the ground floor of the main entrance to Union House or via the bridge from Fulton House. Lift access is via the main entrance in Union House.

Now Open in the Talbot Building

We’ve just opened four new seminar spaces on the ground floor of the Talbot Building. Rooms 45, 47, 39 and 38 have been newly refurbished ready for the start of the new academic year. The rooms can be accessed from the meadow entrance on the east side of the building via a new access corridor which runs from north to south. Access is also possible from the Mall via the Faraday Building and also via the north lobby which is adjacent to the Natural Resources Wales car park.

 Margam LabMargam Building

The main teaching laboratory (M100) in the Margam building has been completely refurbished and its capacity increased so that it now holds up to 110 people. This brand new development will enable lab facilities to be shared by students across the College of Science, and the Swansea University Medical School.

Chemistry

The brand new Department of Chemistry is now open. The multi-million pound hub for chemical sciences research now offers a brand new PC lab with capacity for up to 80 students.

Bay Campus

Brand New Learning Environments at the Bay Campus

We’re delighted to offer a number of brand new teaching and learning spaces at the Bay Campus. The Nanhyfer Work Zone within the Nanhyfer Residence Building located to the west of the Core Food Court on the Bay Campus (see Residences Map) offers two new dedicated study spaces.

The PC Lab has 27 PCs for private study, while Seminar Room 7 has 22 chairs with tablets for individual study. Alternatively the space can be adapted for group study with presentation facilities available in the room to support any group work.

In Seminar Rooms 2 and 3, teaching has been limited to provide additional study space.
