The following funding is available from the Departments of Biosciences and Geography:

European Social Fund (ESF) Access to Taught Masters Scholarships 2012/2013

These scholarships are part of the Access to Masters (ATM) programme backed by the Convergence European Social Fund (ESF) through the Welsh Assembly Government.  Small and medium sized organisations located in the Convergence Area of Wales (Blaenau Gwent, Bridgend, Caerphilly, Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Conwy, Denbighshire, Gwynedd, Isle of Anglesey, Merthyr Tydfil, Neath Port Talbot, Pembrokeshire, Rhondda Cynon Taff, Swansea & Torfaen) are invited to participate in the muli-disciplinary initiative and benefit from a postgraduate research project tailored to meet the specific needs of the organisation as each MSc student will undertake a project assigned to an organisation. We have a large number of fully-funded scholarships available for the following programmes: 

Each bursary includes UK/EU tuition fees plus £5529 living costs (tax free)

Eligibility:

  • Only Masters applicants from the UK or EU will be eligible 
  • Applicants should hold (or be expecting to achieve) a minimum of a 2.1 degree (or equivalent) 
  • Applicants should have already applied formally to the University for a place on one of the above programmes.   If you have not yet applied for a place to study, please visit the Admissions Office website for information regarding application.
  • Applicants should have an address in the Convergence Area of Wales (see above) on enrolment and be permitted to work in the Convergence Area upon completion of the scholarship

Before completing your ATM application form you are advised to download and read the terms and conditions in the Student Agreement (see below).  Please note, you do not need to complete the Student Agreement at this stage: it is for your information only.  If you are offered a scholarship, you will be required to sign and accept the terms and conditions.

European Social Fund (ESF) Knowledge Economy Skills Scholarships for MRes Study 2012/2013

These scholarships are part of the Knowledge Economy Skills Scholarship (KESS) programme which aims at widening access to postgraduate study and encourage high calibre graduates to work on a range of collaborative research projects with small and medium sized organisations located in the Convergence Area of Wales (Blaenau Gwent, Bridgend, Caerphilly, Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Conwy, Denbighshire, Gwynedd, Isle of Anglesey, Merthyr Tydfil, Neath Port Talbot, Pembrokeshire, Rhondda Cynon Taff, Swansea & Torfaen). We have a number of fully-funded scholarships available for the following programmes:
