Welcome
On behalf of my colleagues, I extend a warm welcome to past, present and prospective students, to our research and business associates, and to visitors to the School.
The School brings together the complementary disciplines of Biosciences and Geography, which span biology, marine biology, and zoology; human geography, physical geography, and geo-informatics; and earth science, environmental science, and climate science.
Our mission is to combine research excellence with a superb student experience in a friendly and stimulating environment. Our innovative undergraduate and postgraduate degree schemes reflect our wide-ranging research expertise, and they are designed to equip our students with the skills, knowledge, and experience needed for a wide range of important and rewarding careers.
Our students are taught by enthusiastic and talented academics who are international leaders in their fields. We have a large and vibrant postgraduate research community, outstanding teaching and research facilities, and state-of-the-art equipment for laboratory work, fieldwork, modelling, and simulation. I trust that you will find our website helpful, and hope that you will be able to benefit from our teaching and research.
Professor Marcus Doel, Head of School
