FAQ'S

We have compiled some commonly asked questions about the Year in Industry. If your question is not answered here, please contact us on eng.employability@swansea.ac.uk

I am currently studying a BEng without a Year In Industry, can I switch?

Yes it is possible to switch, however it depends on your average marks in your first and second years. You must attain a 55% average at the end of Level 1, with no supplementary exams. This must be maintained throughout Level 2 to remain on the scheme. Please see the Undergraduate handbook on the College intranet for more course specific information. Email k.m.jervis@swansea.ac.uk to enquire about transferring

Do I pay student fees during the placement year?

Yes- students pay 20% of the full time fee.  For more information on tuition fees during your Year in Industry, visit www.swansea.ac.uk/undergraduate/fees-and-funding/tuition-fees.

Do I have to find my own placement?

As a student on the Year in Industry you will be responsible for securing your own placement, however, we provide plenty of support to do this. We have a dedicated support team within the College who provide students enrolled onto the scheme with a list of over 1000 jobs on a weekly basis, as well as a weekly placements bulletin. The support team are regularly looking to source new opportunities and are often contacted by companies who are looking to source placement students.
